This Earth Day, STEM From has compiled a list of activities for individuals of all ages to participate in aiming to celebrate and help the Earth!

happy earth day stem from celebrates

Build a Solar Oven:

You can harness the power of the sun by building a solar oven out of inexpensive materials. Make tasty goodies while learning about green energy.

Build a DIY Water Filtration System:

Understand the science of clean water by constructing a filtration system that replicates the process used in wastewater treatment plants.

Try a Soil pH Test:

Purchase a pH testing kit to find the acidity of any soil you can get your hands on, whether it be from your own backyard or somewhere else! Certain plant and vegetables prefer specific acidities so it’s great to know what your soil is if you choose to grow a garden!

Create a Wind Turbine:

Research wind energy by crafting your own wind turbine, experimenting with multiple blade types to increase or decrease energy production.

Observe Your Local Pollinators:

Observe pollinators such as butterflies, bees, and different birds in natural habitat. Record your observations.

Make a Mini Greenhouse:

Using recycled materials, study the greenhouse effect by constructing your own mini greenhouse! Observe the greenhouse effect and its significance regarding plant growth.

Analyze Air Quality:

Discover contaminants in your air by using a DIY air quality meter, and observing the differences between indoor and outdoor air quality.

Join a Club:

Participate in group initiatives focused on environmental conservation. It doesn’t start and stop at Earth Day! It continues 365 days a year.
