Formal education pathways leave a ton to be desired in STEM careers. They make it seem like the only STEM careers that are available are those traditional: doctor, scientist, or engineer. This workshop reintroduces the concept of what non-traditional STEM careers could look like. Introducing participates to exciting and often overlooked careers that power industries behind the scenes, from bioinformatics and robotics technicians to healthcare data analysts. Attendees will learn about required skills and education pathways, and uncover career opportunities they may have never considered.

Workshop Description:
Many students grow up believing STEM careers only include becoming a medical doctor, scientist, or engineer. But today’s world is powered by countless STEM professionals working behind the scenes in industries like healthcare technology, cybersecurity, robotics, environmental science, bioinformatics, and data analytics. This workshop introduces students to exciting and often overlooked STEM careers that are shaping the future in innovative ways.
Through interactive discussions, career spotlights, and real-world examples, participants will explore what these careers look like, the skills they require, and the different pathways students can take to pursue them.
