Ex Machina is a science fiction psychological thriller rated R, released in 2014, and directed by Alex Garland. The film explores artificial intelligence, consciousness, ethics, and power through an intimate, character-driven narrative.  Caleb, a young programmer at a powerful tech company, is invited to the secluded estate of CEO Nathan Bateman to participate in a groundbreaking experiment. Caleb is tasked with evaluating Ava, a highly advanced humanoid AI, to determine whether she possesses true consciousness. As Caleb interacts with Ava, the boundaries between observer and subject blur, raising questions about manipulation, autonomy, and control.
