Nobel Prize Week celebrates some of the world’s most impactful achievements in science, literature, peace, and economics. During the week, Nobel Prize laureates are recognized for discoveries and innovations that have advanced knowledge and improved lives around the globe. For STEM students, Nobel Prize Week highlights how curiosity, persistence, and groundbreaking research can change the world.
How it Started…
The Nobel Prizes were established through the will of Alfred Nobel, a Swedish inventor, engineer, chemist, and entrepreneur, who directed that his fortune be used to recognize individuals whose work “has conferred the greatest benefit to humankind.” The first Nobel Prizes were awarded in 1901, and today they are among the world’s most prestigious honors. Nobel Prize Week includes the Nobel Prize Award Ceremony and related lectures and celebrations held in Stockholm, Sweden, with the Nobel Peace Prize awarded in Oslo, Norway.

Fun Fact
More than 600 Nobel Prizes in the sciences (Physics, Chemistry, and Physiology or Medicine) have been awarded since 1901, recognizing discoveries ranging from DNA and lasers to CRISPR gene editing, mRNA technology, and climate science. Many of these breakthroughs continue to shape medicine, technology, and everyday life.

Assign each student (or team) a Nobel Prize-winning discovery to research.
Students should answer:
