Summer is the perfect season to turn curiosity into adventure. STEM learning doesn’t have to happen in a classroom—it can happen on hiking trails, in museums, under the stars, or even around your kitchen table. The best STEM experiences inspire students to ask questions, solve problems, and discover new passions while having fun. 1. Go on a STEM Scavenger Hunt

STEM is everywhere—you just have to know where to look! Turn a neighborhood walk, park visit, or trip around town into a STEM scavenger hunt by searching for examples of science, technology, engineering, and math in everyday life. Look for bridges, solar panels, wildlife, weather patterns, insects, different types of plants, construction equipment, geometric shapes in buildings, or examples of simple machines.

Encourage students to take photos, sketch what they find, or record observations in a STEM journal. Every discovery becomes an opportunity to ask questions like, How does this work? Why was it designed this way? or What problem does it solve?

Design a bridge, construct the tallest tower, or create a marble run, then improve your design after testing it.

Every redesign teaches an important lesson: failure is simply part of the engineering process.

4. Explore the Night Sky
