What is a Nobel Prize?
Famous inventor, businessman, entrepreneur Alfred Nobel left his fortune to reward “those who, during the preceding year, shall have conferred the greatest benefit to humankind.” Thus, the Nobel’s prize was created to acknowledge achievements in various fields.
There are six prize categories: physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, literature, peace, economic sciences.
When was the first Nobel Prize awarded?
The first Nobel Prize was awarded in 1901.
Where are the award ceremonies held?
The Nobel Prizes are awarded annually in Stockholm, Sweden, aside from the Nobel Peace Prize, which is awarded in Oslo, Norway.
